The first time I visited Greece, I was on a bus from Athens to Delphi when I photographed this rural Greek shepherd from the window. I was struck by the foreign nature between us while connecting to his eased posture and the ease with which he was doing his job. It was beautiful to catch such a natural show of the human condition. I decided to magnify the human condition in this piece by placing the figure in an undefined plane instead of a foreign landscape.
